BIXTEP is an XML Text Processor for the Bash shell whose intelligence is still in the making. The main development aim is to provide users with a tool to flexibly structure and control textual information. With only the most basic functions implemented, BIXTEP 0.1 is a text-mode tagged notecase suited for everyday use.

The basic features are:

• three item types: notes, excerpts, sources
• input text using your favorite editor
• organize information through keywords
• organize information through field relations
• full-text search for items
• list of all items
• export as plain text file
• backup of files
• both command line and textual user interface
