Description

BIXTEP is an XML Text Processor for the Bash shell whose intelligence is still in the making. The main development aim is to provide users with a tool to flexibly structure and control textual information. With only the most basic functions implemented, BIXTEP is a text-mode tagged notecase suited for everyday use.

About the current state of the project

New development version available for download (revision 53).

A lot of code has been cleaned up and refactored. Compared to earlier versions 0.2 code will be easier to understand and maintain.

The 0.2 release will remain a Bash script that makes heavy use of standard command line tools. Future releases will use Python. ~ kstep 03/2010

• Stable version (0.1.1): Download
• Development version (0.2-dev): This version contains the latest features, including experimental features and file format changes that may later be dropped. Note that the development version can be unstable. Download and use at your own risk.

• Dependencies: In order to use BIXTEP, you need to have the XMLStarlet package installed through your distribution's package management software. You may alternatively download and install XMLStarlet manually.
