What is BIXTEP?

BIXTEP is a fast and flexible textual information management tool. It helps you to enter information quickly through a text-only interface. The flexibility stems from the possible combinations of the core XML queries. As of version 0.2-dev, BIXTEP is configurable, supporting user defined content types and combining different methods for organzing information such as tag-based relations and field relations.

Why does BIXTEP use the Shell?

BIXTEP is made to deal with texts and no graphical interface stands in the way of entering and organizing the information. However, it is understandable that many people will prefer a good old graphical user interface. BIXTEP's core functions can interact with any other user interface and they can easily be extended by a graphical interface in the future.

Where does BIXTEP save the data?

BIXTEP saves your data in a Bixtorage XML-file making it easy to export it to other programs.

How can users contribute to the project?

User contributions are absolutely essential. First of all, you can test/use BIXTEP and give your feedback. You could also share your personal use case and discuss the concepts behind BIXTEP. At this point of the development, users can have a lot of influence on the program's future shape. When you share your good ideas, it's quite possible that they'll be implemented.

How can developers contribute to the project?

BIXTEP is something of a playground for practical ideas and experiments in information management. If you are a developer, consider participating in the design and development process.
